Associate Professor Carole Burnett is a diagnostic radiographer who has established herself as an academic clinician, undertaking and leading research to understand and mitigate the side effects of radiotherapy treatment for patients with a diagnosis of cancer. Carole was awarded a NIHR Senior Clinical Academic Practitioner Research Award in 2024.
In addition to supporting research activity, Carole is also passionate about enabling individuals to fulfil their career aspirations to develop their research potential. Carole has contributed to the academic capacity development arena at local and national levels. Carole is the academic capacity development lead for the NIHR Leeds BRC, Leeds Teaching Hospitals and the CHildren’s’ Outcome Research At Leeds (CHORAL) infrastructure grant). Carole founded the Advocates of The North, a community for northern researchers.
Carole is dedicated to helping individuals achieve their career goals and reach their full research potential. She has played an active role in building academic capacity both locally and nationally.
